For a birds’ eye view of Piketberg and surrounding areas, take a trip up Versveld pass to the top of the mountain where you will drive through acres of apple, pear, peach and orange orchards where aromas of wild rosemary permeates the air amidst yellow Waboom and pink Nerifolia Proteas.

The winding Versveld pass takes you to the top of Piket Mountain and offers a panoramic view of the region’s large fruit and grain farms. Piketberg offers travelers many different activities, including horse riding, wine tasting, hiking, mountain biking, various sporting activities, bird watching, canoeing and fishing.

Sports and Adventure

The Piketberg Mountain

The Piketberg mountain hosts activities such as horse riding, hiking and mountain biking. Horse riding excursions can be arranged with the farm Excelsior, ranging from two hours to eight days. These trips can lead all the way down to the West Coast. Hikes are found on the farms Excelsior and Pheasant’s Nest. The eager hiker can try hiking trails starting at 3 km. These lead through indigenous fynbos, rock formations and sometimes the odd cave. A mountain biking trail of 8 km through field flowers is located on Pheasant’s Nest Farm.

Golfers can visit Langebaan Country Estate for an unforgettable experience on the 18-hole Gary Payer Black Night-designed golf course.
