WEST COAST REGION

Swartland

The region includes the towns of Darling, Malmesbury, Moorreesburg, Koringberg, Riebeek Kasteel, Riebeek Wes and Yzerfontein.

More sunshine, more space, more soul – all of these await the traveler in the Swartland region, the gem in the jewel box of the Western Cape. Here the visitor can find a range of leisure and adventure activities, accommodation that ranges from comfortable to luxurious, fabulous foods and wines, and a concentration of arts, history and culture that would be hard to match anywhere.

Cederberg

The region includes the towns of Citrusdal, Clanwilliam, Elands Bay, Graafwater, Lambert’s Bay, Leipoldtville and Wupperthal.

The region offers a rich natural heritage, fruit-filled valleys, towering mountains and the unique coastal area which offer the surfing waters of Elands Bay and the excellent restaurants, Bird Island and magnificent weather of Lambert’s Bay. The beautiful Olifants River Valley, with its snaking irrigation canals sustains a large citrus industry which is a hive of activity during winter harvest time. This is also Rooibos Tea country and the only place in the world where this healthy beverage naturally grows.

Peninsula

Saldanha Bay Region includes the towns of Hopefield, Jacobsbaai, Langebaan, Paternoster, Saldanha, St Helena Bay, Vredenburg and the West Coast National Park.

Discover the Cape West Coast Peninsula, a region celebrated for its warmth and hospitality, extraordinary sights and sounds and delicious cuisine. Bask in the tranquility, relaxation and endless summers, while soaking up the sun on the beach. Join nature-lovers from around the globe who flock to the region when the wildflowers explode into kaleidoscopic carpets for as far as the eye can see.

Namaqua

Ebenhauzer, Papendorp, Lutzville, Vredendal, Klawer, Vanrhynsdorp, Nuwerus, Bitterfontein, Kliprand, Rietpoort, Putsekloof, Mosvlei and Stofkraal.

Namaqua West Coast boasts a wonderful destination from which to explore the Southern Namaqualand. Here you’ll find vast unspoilt beaches, whales in season, rugged mountains with beautiful waterfalls, endless horizons, clear skies with bright stars, clean invigorating air, globally acclaimed wines, traditional food and ‘Riel’ dancing. The area is a kaleidoscope of veld flowers in season.

Bergrivier

The region includes the towns of Aurora, Eendekuil, Goedverwacht, Piketberg, Porterville, Redelinghuys, Velddrif, Dwarskersbos and Wittewater.

The Bergrivier sub-region is named after one of the major rivers of the Western Cape. The Berg River starts in the Franschhoek Mountains and eventually flows into the Atlantic Ocean at Velddrif. Explore Bergriver, a colourful and diverse destination with bird watching, hiking and angling, and experience the perfect combination of nature and tranquility!

LANGEBAAN COUNTRY ESTATE

Elands Bay

ELANDS BAY HOTEL

Elands Bay Hotel is a gemstone on the West Coast, with great sites at the back of the hotel. Elands Bay is world famous for its wonderful surfing opportunities, making it popular with young and adventure-seeking visitors. The hotel offers guests bed and breakfast rooms, self-catering units and backpackers, and camping options, making it ideal for all types of travelers. Experience clean and neat rooms with lovely sea views, friendly staff, and great food. Each of the rooms has an en-suite bathroom fitted with a shower or a bath only. The self-catering unit has a private kitchen and the backpackers share kitchen facilities that are equipped with stoves, ovens, microwaves, fridges, and tea and coffee-making facilities. Situated on the grass with lovely views, the camping sites have private braai facilities and share ablution facilities with showers. Guests, please need to bring their own camping equipment. The hotel offers a general bar with 2 TVs and pool tables, a Ladies’ bar with a TV and a stunning sea view, and an à la carte restaurant with stunning sea views. A conference venue for up to 60 people and wedding receptions and other functions with up to 150 people can be accommodated.
