Surf Guru’s Unite – when mentioning the name “Elandsbaai’ to any dedicated surfer, you are most likely to see their eyes light up. The surfers who gather here are not usually amateurs one would find floating about in any ocean. The left-hand break is not a place for beginners because of the power of the waves and the fact that it breaks over a reef.
Situated between the Atlantic Ocean and the Baviaans mountains, Elands Bay creates a remarkable site. This un-commercialised small town has managed to maintain the laid-back lifestyle one looks forward to when wanting to break away from the chaotic life most of us find ourselves entangled in.
Elands Bay Cave was declared a provincial heritage site in 2009, thanks to it being the only site in the area that has such a rich collection of resources that speak of the South African heritage. Elands Bay Cave is located near the mouth of the Verlorenvlei estuary above Baboon Point.
