Darling

75km from CT

Tucked away between vineyards and hills, Darling is a harmonious combination of old and new and the tranquility of the village inspires many who live there. At the beginning of the 18th century about 29 farmers lived in an area called Groenkloof and on one of these farms, Langfontein, Darling was founded in 1853.

It was named after Sir Charles Henry Darling who came in 1851 to the Cape as Lieutenant Governor. Darling is a vibrant place with a rich culture and also a heavenly setting for a tranquil getaway. Darling is famous for its wildflowers and is located in the most diverse Floristic region in the world namely the Cape Floristic Kingdom.
